Kantor's Corner

So recently I received an email from a fellow by the name of Jordan Kantor. He asked me to get the word out about his new blog, which was started over a year ago, to the עולם. He has recently added Matt Beezy as and author of his blog. Now us here at ProjectRecharge give approbation's to a very select group of blogs, as can be seen by the links on the side of our blog. We will continue to follow this blog for some time and see where it goes before we give it our official stamp by placing a link on the side bar. But as the request of a fellow Jew, and as a participant in many ProjectRecharge events, it's only right to comply with the man's request...

So check it out @ Kantor's Corner.

הכנה לט''ו בשבט

Although there are few leaves on the trees here in , חוץ לארץ, is the day that marks the beginning of a "New Year for Trees." This is the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the emerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle.Legally, the "New Year for Trees" relates to the various amounts that are separated from produce grown in ארץ ישראל. These amounts differ from year to year in the 7 year שמיטה cycle.
We mark the day of ט''ו בשבט by eating fruit, particularly from the from the שבע מינים: grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates. On this day we have to keep in mind that ''כי אדם עץ השדה'' and reflect on the lessons we can learn from trees, which is parallel to man.

י' שבט

Sixty years ago today, on the 10th of Shevat, upon the passing of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, of righteous memory, leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement passed on to his illustious son-in-law, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory. In the decades that followed, the Rebbe revolutionized, inspired, educated, guided the post-holocaust transformation of the Jewish people that continues to this day and touched people around the world through his positive vision and revolutionary ideas.

This day, so relevant to every Jew in our generation, is surely a day for reflection, learning, prayer, positive resolutions and acts of loving-kindness.
